that the only proper justification for our existence, for our taking up space on this earth, is success.
at first, this belief leads us to accomplish more than we ever dreamed we could.
but soon, it leaves us feeling emptier than we ever thought possible.
for those of you unqualified sons of bitches out there having kids (case in point, my own lovely parents), please teach them they have inherent worth. Don’t tell them they are perfect or that they should be. Tell them they have worth, just as they are. Don’t teach them that they can’t or shouldn’t accomplish much, but for God’s sake don’t teach them that the justification for their existence is contingent upon accomplishment.
It’s a pretty important lesson, and not having been taught it can make you the loneliest person in the world sometimes.
